The Sapphire Lounge, a high-end and modern restaurant, it's as hard to get into it as it is expensive. Still, it's the perfect to make a deal.

"Kiss my sour behind, you lousey-" Josephine was cut off by the man who was flirting with her and obviously drunk kissing her smack on the lips. Josephine pulled away and smacked him clean across the face, "Why I otta..." Josephine mumbled, refraining from harming the man more for she already had a rotten reputation. She tapped her foot impatiently. What was taking River so long? She wasn't still on Norway time, was she? Josephine ran her fingers through her tediously braided hair, obviously someone talented took the time to do it carefully. This wasn't a rare sight, but what was was the fact Josephine would even be in a place like this. High class and wasted folks, just the way she hated it. She hadn't dressed up either, wearing only a tank top to which shed torn the sleeves from, a dark green army jacket, black jeans, and combat boots. She stuck her finger in her glass and stirred it absently. She loved to watch the drunken people screw up. But she almost missed the Norwegian accent of her roommate and not so patiently waited.

" 'Allo!" River said in her very thick accent, not seeing what had just happened to Josephine. She walked in with a little bit of a skip in her step and sat down in her seat, her hands folded in front of her, her elbows slightly cocked, glancing around at the restarunt in a bit of awe. "How is your day, because I slept for about five hours, the jet lag from Norway is insane," Her accent and fast speech caused her words to blur together. She then glanced to her watch and realized she was late. "Oh, I didn't- I'm sorry Josephine, I'm so sorry, I didn't know I was late," She gave a little half smile, trying to apologize a little bit. Her delay was probably her mishap with the taxis, the driver didn't understand her and apparently wouldn't take Norwegian money. "Is something wrong Josephine, you look kind of upset, did something happen?" She had just noticed the annoyed and irritated look on Josephine's face. River's eyebrows furrowed, she hated seeing Josephine upset. She decided to try and make it better before Josephine could even speak. "How about this..." She trailed the end of her words, thinking. "I can pay for dinner and for something after it... Maybe a movie or something like that,"

"It's fine, flights can be nasty. I'm surprised you came home so soon. The apartment's been quiet without ya'. And some jerk kissed me. I otta shove my foot right up his- never mind." Josephine was reluctant to brush off her experience, but she could tell River was trying hard to make it better. Josephine felt bad for wanting to tease her, but she couldn't resist, "Besides, I know you vikings are a bit busy, with your pillaging and all. Kinda like the Bronx, if I might add." Josephine grinned. A pure New Yorker, she was, and proud of it. "What, the taxi driver give ya' a hard time? Need me to rough 'im up?" Josephine put up her fists and punched the air, the scars over her knuckles showing a bit too much. She laughed at herself, a rare sight to see her laughing, indeed. "How's Norway, still as cold as last time I was there?"

As soon as Josephine said that a man had kissed her, River glanced around to try and find the utterly wasted soul had probably done it. She most likely couldn't take him on in a fight, but the effort was what mattered, normally. She looked back to Josephine, giving her a little half smile. "It's fine about the taxi driver, he's one of the nicer New Yorkers I've met, I shouldn't mention the parade of drunk people I saw earlier. I've heard some things that were so offensive that I didn't know how to react," She thought for a second before answering the Norway question. "You're right about that, Norway is still cold, how is New York in winter? I haven't ever been to New York in winter," She thought about Christmas in New York. "Is it true about the giant ball that drops on New Years? Oh! Or the giant tree in the square?" The thoughts of New York excited River to her very core, it was so different from Norway. America excited her in general, but she was sure she would get adjusted to it with time. Although, she didn't know how long the novelty would last. Though, she was excited to be living in what they called the 'Big Apple,"

"Awe, the taxi driver one of the nicest New Yorkers? Not even me?" Josephine chuckled and tossed her hair, "Don't answer that." Josephine pulled up a few pictures on her phone of Times Square with the snow and the ball-drop. Josephine loved to impress River. Josephine saw the little excitement bubbling on River's face. "I could take you ice skating when it's Christmas. Rockefella' Center. It's pretty there. My dad used to take me, used ta'..." Josephine bit her lip. She hated her parents, for splitting her brother and her apart at such a young age, only to yank them away from their friends in their foster countries. "Anyway, I'd love you take you, Viking." Josephine would readily admit that she had odd nicknames for her roommate. Josephine rubbed her knuckles absently, it'd been a habit for a while now. Well, that and the constant sneer on her face. "Did you bring me back anything? I don't think you could have brought back one of the sheep dogs through carry-on." She put a fake pout on her face. Josephine had always loved to visit River in Norway, especially the openness and solitude of the woods near Josephine's old foster home. She'd always loved the giant sheep dogs that lived in the ranch a ways from the home, River knew it too. Josephine grinned, waiting for a reply from River, who was obviously distracted from the sights from being in New York again.

River scrolled through the pictures, giving little smiles as she saw each moment. Then, Josephine mentioned her parents. River extended an arm to put it on Josephine's shoulder to try and comfort her. She knew how hard Josephine's childhood had been. She tried to change the subject to something happier. "I sadly wasn't able to bring any of the dogs, but it would be good to get one, but I don't know how well it would do in a apartment. But I really do like the apartment, its beautiful," She gave her a wide smile. "Maybe after dinner we can go out to do something, I want to see all of New York, Well, maybe not all of it tonight," She let out a slight giggle, shrugging a little bit. "Or, maybe we could just go to the apartment after this and hang out or something," River was just spouting out ideas now to try and distract Josephine. "I just remembered, maybe we could go to Central Park, well, if you want to,"

"Dang, I really missed those dogs, too. Maybe more than you." Josephine chuckled at herself, grinning. She looked at River. She seemed to always be smiling. Good for her, Josephine thought to herself. "I'll take you to Central Park. You know, glaciers used to cover the whole area, thousands of years ago. I've heard enough 'Tours of New York' buses talk about to have those kinda things memorized." Josephine wrought her hands, a bit of nerves filled her gut. Not many people in this God-forsaken town liked her. She tried not to make many encounters with anyone. Including her own family. Well, except her twin brother Fredrick. She tolerated him, but he wasn't around much, Funny, it seemed her whole life was just "people who weren't around much." She'd grown used to it though, which she couldn't decided whether that was a good thing, or a bad thing. "You left a couple of your camera things here. I might have borrowed the stuff you left when I was out in Central. I thought I'd take pictures of the stuff you miss while your away. I hope you're not mad that an amateur like me is usin' big fancy cameras like yours." Josephine rubbed the back of her neck nervously. She really did try to impress River. "Wanna drop your stuff off at the apartment first, or do you mind carryin' it all?"

"I knew I was missing my camera, I even went and bought a new one so, I guess you can keep it," River shrugged at the mention of her missing camera. "Besides, I like the pictures you take on my cameras," She gave a slight smile, moving a hand to mess with her brunette hair. With the mention of her stuff, River just realized she had three suitcases and a carry-on. "I don't mind taking it back, if the rumors are true. I don't want all my stuff stolen, but I'm sure you could protect me," River gave a little wink and a chuckle. She gestured for the waitress and gave her order, she was starving from the flight over to America and her stomach was growling up a storm. She realized just after how expensive the meal would be and glanced towards her wallet. She had decided to pay for dinner tonight and there wasn't much more that Josephine could do to sway her. Her warm and caring nature made her instinctively polite and kind. She wasn't as soft spoken as most would expect. Still, without Josephine, River wouldn't be able to survive a week in New York. "Don't worry, I've got the bill,"

"Vikings don't pay. I know your order like the back of my hand. I paid before you got here." Josephine slyly grinned at River, excitement dancing in her eyes. "And ain't nobody putting a hand of my River. I'll be your big buff cheeto puff." Josephine ran her tongue across her teeth and frowned. She didn't want to worry River. She wanted her to be excited and happy when she visited. Josephine snatched River's wallet, just in case River vetoed her. "I'll take you back to the apartment as soon as you eat your...whatever Vikings eat. Blood of their enemies. Yup, sounds like you, River." Josephine snorted when she laughed. She spied all of River's suitcases and wondered how she got them all in a taxi? Who knows, but Josephine was walking home. Josephine spied the man that had kissed her and bared her teeth. She hoped he'd leave soon. She turned quickly, not wanting to scare off River, and beamed the happiest smile she could muster.

"Don't worry about it, I insist," Apparently, the two were going to have a politeness battle. Hopefully this wouldn't be a major smackdown. She gave a little smile when Josephine made a joke about Norwegians. "I had the blood of my enemies for breakfast, so I may just have the salad," She gave a little shrug. Then, Josephine snatched her wallet. Apparently, Josephine would be paying. Then she saw Josephine growl at a man, probably to one who kissed her. River bared her teeth at him too, but went back to smiling when Josephine turned back and beamed a smile as wide and shiny as River's. She decided to go back to what Josephine has said earlier. "Oh... Josephine, what's a cheeto puff, why is it big and buff?" She didn't understand American slang as much as the Norwegian wished she did.

Josephine shook her head a little before cocking it slightly to the side. Shed forgotten for a moment just how ignorant River was. "It's a figure of speech, that's all." Josephine laughed a little. It was sort of funny to realize just how in the dark River was. Josephine rubbed her knuckles absently and bit the inside of her lip. Bad habits of hers. "And we take take your stuff back as soon as your done here. I'm sure you packed a whole house into those cases so I won't be surprised if it takes hours to get you unpacked." Josephine would never admit that she teased River too much, even though she did. She waited for River's response, making a mental list of the all the things River possibly could have packed in the suitcases she'd brought. Most of Josephine's speculation was assumed trinkets and things that River would want to show her. But Josephone realized that River was usually more prepared than she was in any situation, so she stopped thinking about it.

"You sly New Yorker," River smirked at Josephine. She still didn't get a clear explanation on what a big, buff, cheeto puff was, but that's what google is for. She gave a slight nod after what Josephine said about her suitcase. "I did pack a lot of stuff, my mom and dad wanted to be sure I got everything I needed, as if I was moving to a desert island," River sighed. "But, they care a lot for me, so I can't really object about much," She gave a few thoughts of what was in her suitcases, the mental list was basically a novel so she ceased to think about it. "I'm excited to see the apartment, but I'm sure I've already said that about fifteen times," River rubbed the back of her neck, realizing how nervous she was. She had come from a tiny farm and now she's in one of the largest cities in the world. She would be as sleepless as the city tonight.

"And that's why your parents hate me." Josephine took a jab at her own unpreparedness. She'd never been the planning type. Josephine beamed. "I should probably warn you, people here are not as nice as me...and I'm not very nice at all." Josephine bit her nails and smirked, chuckling a little. How was River going to hold herself out in big New York. But, Josephine told herself that River was much more than capable of handling herself, her bear hugs were enough to strangle a fully grown man. Josephine laughed at the thought. "You know, I miss going on dangerous expeditions with you. I miss the thrill, even if we've both almost been killed many a time. I miss it." Josephine stared at her feet before running her fingers up to the beginning of where her hair began to braid. "You look nervous, don't be."

River thought about what Josephine said about all of their former expeditions. She let out a long sigh, reveling in the memories. "I don't know if we should stop," River tapped her index fingernail on the table. "I mean, I loved going on adventures, even though all of my cameras got broken in the processes. We aren't dead, that could be a sign to keep going, if you want to think about it in that way. Or, we could write a novel, as long as we exclude the stuff that's illegal. I'm sure at least something was on the wrong side of the law," River gave a little chuckle. She then realized how nervous she looked. "I'm not all that nervous actually, I'm just really excited, like, really excited," River fidgeted a little bit in her chair. "But seriously, should we stop going on these adventures?"
